Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Phuc and Ambassador of Sweden Pereric Hogberg signing the MoU

The MoU encourages experience exchange in English training, as well as promotes co-operation to evaluate and improve teachers and students’ English skills.

According to the MoU, Sweden will provide free assistance to evaluate English skills of reading, listen, and grammar. The results of the examination will allow participants to assess their English skills and will not be used as an official recognition of the English skills of Vietnamese teachers and students. Sweden will also provide e-learning to improve their English skills.

During the period of co-operation, Sweden will support the Ministry of Education and Training to develop the soft skills and English skills for the students of a number of high schools. Swedish experts will guide students to identify their career paths and disciplines according to their abilities and interests, as well as help them gain confidence and use English naturally.

Sweden is similar to Vietnam in using the local language as the mother tongue and English as a second language. However, after reforms of teaching and learning foreign languages, Sweden has been leading the rankings assessing the foreign language ability of learners and is among the top countries in terms of creativity.
