Premier League matches will be broadcast exclusively by K+ in the next three years

Several days ago, K+ television announced reaching an agreement with the organisation board of the Premier League. Thus, all 380 matches of the league will be exclusively broadcast on K+ in the next three years.

Le Chi Cong, general director of VSTV – the parent company of K+ – said, “K+ is very glad to serve the local audience watching the football league. K+ will keep accompanying Vietnamese fans of football and promises to broadcast the matches at the best quality.”

However, the price of the broadcasting rights has not been revealed, but speculations place it in the range of hundreds of millions of US dollars.

K+ will broadcast the football league across the country via all channels available, including its satellite television K+ Premium, streaming via over-the-top (OTT) services like K+ TV Box; as well as its myK+ application for mobile devices, tablets, and computers.

Last year, global social network Facebook spent $269 million to purchase the broadcasting rights of the league. However, the plan was not successful, maybe due to the objections of local televisions.

Accordingly, as soon as Facebook announced to own the rights to the football league, Vietnam Pay Television Association (VNPayTV) sent a document to the Ministry of Information and Communications to claim Facebook was violating the Competition Law and requested the ministry to protect the rights of local television companies.
