ICAEW, a world leader of the accountancy and finance profession, last week awarded 15 students from Vietnam’s top universities a scholarship to obtain the renowned ICAEW Certificate in Finance, Business and Accounting (ICAEW CFAB).

The ICAEW CFAB scholarship was awarded to 15 outstanding students from four universities in Vietnam: the National Economics University, Academy of Finance, Foreign Trade University and RMIT University Vietnam.

Selected from a pool of promising students, the ICAEW CFAB qualification provides students with key practical skills and essential knowledge for today’s competitive business world.

Students that have succeeded in achieving the ICAEW CFAB certification have the opportunity to continue training towards ICAEW’s Chartered Accountancy qualification, the ACA (Associate Chartered Accountant), which is held by over 142,000 professionals in over 160 countries around the world.

“We are pleased to be working closely with these top universities to hone and improve the skills of promising talent in Vietnam. The ICAEW CFAB programme not only offers students an opportunity to obtain a certificate from ICAEW, but is also a stepping stone towards further training to become professionally qualified accountants,” said ICAEW’s head of Vietnam Dang Thi Mai Trang.

“We hope that through this partnership, we can help nurture and contribute to a pool of qualified accountants needed to drive the accountancy sector to greater heights,” she added.

As part of its commitment to develop talent and advance the accountancy profession in Vietnam, ICAEW also presented certificates to two new partners in learning.

AFA Research & Education and UHY Audit Company will join a list of ICAEW tuition providers who will provide classroom tuition for students undertaking ICAEW CFAB and ACA qualification.

Mark Billington FCA, regional director of ICAEW South East Asia said: “Industry partners like AFA Research & Education and UHY Audit Company play an important role in providing the tuition required to prepare our students for a rewarding career. As Vietnam continues to develop as one of the world’s fastest growing economies, there is a need for professionally qualified accountants who play an important role in delivering business confidence, to create an attractive business environment for the country.”

The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) is a world leading professional membership organisation that promotes, develops and supports over 142,000 chartered accountants worldwide.
