HPA reports massive achievements during promotion programmes

As the capitol's main agency for the task, the Hanoi Promotion Agency (HPA) has been exerting serious efforts to promote investment, trade, and tourism during the first nine months of the year, with plenty of new activities to come before the year is over.

The HPA has been co-operating with other authorities to advise the Hanoi People’s Committee on building Programme No.72/CTr-UBND issued on March 21, 2018, on hosting 21 activities to connect agencies and authorities, 13 investment promotion activities, and 34 promotion activities in commerce, and 15 activities in tourism.

The HPA has implemented several investment promotion activities to call on local and foreign investors for key projects which play an important role in the socioeconomic development of the city. The activities included the “Hanoi 2018 – Investment and Development Co-operation” conference, the conference on investment, tourism, and the food festival between Hanoi and Japan, which was organised in the framework of a cherry blossom festival.

Furthermore, the agency was also in charge of urging the signing of Memoranda of Understanding between investors and Hanoi’s authorities as well as local enterprises operating in Hanoi.

Additionally, the HPA has successfully organised the Vietnam Agricultural Product Week 2018 in Rungis as well as introducing and promoting Vietnamese tourism in France. Vietnamese fruits such as litchi, dragon fruit, banana, and coconut attracted great interest and were widely appreciated by world importers. The leaders of Rungis Group were also very interested in the city leaders’ plans to a deploy a wholesale market like Rungis and promised to support the implementation.

Regarding trade promotion activities, in June, the HPA successfully organised the Vietnam-Hanoi Goods Week at the AEON supermarket chain in Japan. Hanoi's products were sold at 40 retail outlets in the shopping complexes, supermarkets, and department stores of AEON Group in Saitama and several provinces in the South and North of Kanto, attracting more than 40,000 Japanese businesses and consumers to visit and shop.

In overseas markets, the agency organised a delegation to attend Ambiente 2018 – the world’s leading consumer goods trade fair – in Germany as well as research gift-making technology and 3D printing for ceramic products in the Netherlands on February 3-14.

The HPA organised a delegation to attend leather and footwear-handbag expos held in Italy and Germany, researching market trends, approaching new production technology, and bagging deals at Expo Riva Schuh. In the framework of the expos, local firms met 100 foreign partners and signed 31 co-operation agreements.

Beside the participation in the Mechanical Components & Materials Technology Expo (M-TECH) 2018 in Japan from June 19 to 24 (more than 2,000 visitors at the Hanoi booth and 400 transactions signed), the HPA also took part in the Vietnamese Goods and Tourism Week 2018 in Thailand (August 20-27). The event in Thailand attracted 15,000 visitors and five co-operation contracts were signed.

In the local market, the HPA took part in the Southern Folk Cake Festival 2018 in Can Tho city. Through the festival, enterprises connected and found distribution agents, introduced products in Can Tho and the southern areas, focusing on honey products, tea, cashmere, handicrafts, silk products, and embroidery.

Besides, from April 25 to May 3, the HPA held the Northern Quang Ninh One Commune One Product (OCOP) Fair 2018 and the Hue Festival 2018 international trade fair on April 24-30.

In the tourism sector, the agency joined large-scale fairs overseas, including the ITB Berlin – the world's largest travel trade fair – and the Korea World Travel Fair 2018 (Kotfa 2018). In late September, the HPA co-operated with Vietnam National Administration of Tourism to organise conferences in Canada and the US as well as join the Jata fair in Japan and Topreja in France.

Besides, Vietnam International Travel Mart (VITM Hanoi) 2018 attracted over 3,000 visitors and the total value of contracts reached VND20 billion ($858,174). Besides, HPA successfully organised a series of other fairs both in Vietnam and foreign markets.

While there were several issues with the above promotion activities, in general, the HPA completed its role as the key authority promoting investment, trading, and tourism in the capital.

Besides, the reform in trading promotion activities, including directly distribute Vietnam’s goods into large-scale distribution systems in aboard, brings positive results for enterprises.

Especially, the HPA will also take care to heed feedback from enterprises and evaluate the impacts of its promotion programmes.

Regarding the tourism sector, the HPA did well in connecting local and foreign organisations, between Vietnam National Administration of Tourism and local authorities, contributing to saving the state budget, improve the effectiveness of the promotion programmes in aboard.

In the remaining three months, the agency will continue to complete the scheme for promoting investment, trading and tourism in Hanoi in the period 2018-2020 with the vision to 2025.

Besides, the HPA will focus on implementing the mission in the approved Programme No.72/CTr – UBND, simultaneously review and adjust the contents of the programmes, which do not match the exsiting developemt of Hanoi.

Furthermore, the HPA will organise promotion month programme, the regional special cuisine fair in collaboration with the exhibition of handicraft gifts. In the framework of this events, the agency will invite famous designers in the 3D print technology to introduce and transfer the technology for local companies.
