After 15 days of social distancing on July 23, Ho Chi Minh City will review measures under Directive 16/CT-TTg with stronger prevention measures.

COVID-19 measures in Ho Chi Minh City under Directive 16 will most likely be strengthened after July 23

On July 21, Phan Van Mai, the standing Deputy Secretary of Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, revealed three scenarios issued by the city after 15 days of social distancing.

Specifically, in case the pandemic is controlled, the implementation of Directive 16 will be reviewed. However, if the pandemic continues to spread, the directive will continue to be implemented with even stronger measures. Lastly, if the pandemic situation turns to the worse, the city will have to consider even stricter lockdown regulations.

The deputy secretary added that the number of positive cases has been increasing so far, adding that the pandemic has probably not reached its peak yet and multiple hardships wait down the road. He stated that the second scenario is the most likely to take place.

Ho Chi Minh City Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control is also preparing solutions to enhance the implementation of Directive 16 accordingly.

The stricter measures will include the implementation and monitoring of social distancing, ensuring the supply of goods and food for lockdown areas and families in difficulties, monitoring the movement and treatment of F0 patients, and safeguarding the COVID-19-free areas in the city.
