Ho Chi Minh City will use AstraZeneca, Pfizer, and Moderna shots for the next stage of its vaccination campaign |
On July 20, Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health (DoH) announced that it has just submitted to the municipal People's Committee a plan to organise the fifth round of COVID-19 vaccination in Ho Chi Minh City that would see the administration of more than 1.1 million doses of vaccines.
The vaccination drive will last 2-3 weeks but it can be extended depending on the actual situation to ensure pandemic prevention measures. Under the plan, there are 15 priority groups of people to be vaccinated including people over 65, low-income people, policy beneficiaries, those suffering from underlying health conditions and receiving treatment at hospitals, medical workers, and frontline workers. Other priority groups include soldiers, police officers, diplomatic personnel, essential service suppliers, teachers, and workers.
The AstraZeneca vaccine will be inoculated to those who get the first shot, while those who received the first shot of AstraZeneca eight to 12 weeks ago will get the second dose of either Moderna or Pfizer vaccine.
Regarding the plan, the People's Committees of Thu Duc city and other districts will organise at least two injection sites in each ward, commune, and town, with two injection tables.
Thus, there will be at least 624 injection points in 312 wards and towns across the city. In the first two weeks, each site will administer injections for up to 120 people a day. After that, the wards, communes, and towns can relocate the vaccination sites and start to give the second shots to those who have received their first shot four weeks ago.
