HDF Energy and Quang Ngai Department of Industry and Trade just signed a MoU on September 17, solidifying their commitment to advancing green hydrogen and renewable energy projects in the province.
The MoU was signed by Vo Van Ran, director of Quang Ngai Department of Industry and Trade, and Mathieu Geze, regional director for Asia at HDF Energy.
The MoU aims to drive the development of renewable energy and green hydrogen initiatives, with a focus on incorporating HDF Energy's cutting-edge technologies. These include hydrogen power plants designed to deliver clean energy to the national power grid, as well as major factories in the province, such as an oil refinery and steel manufacturing facilities.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Ran expressed his excitement about the collaboration.
“Quang Ngai has great potential for renewable energy and industrial infrastructure. Green hydrogen is one of the top priorities for the province's future development, especially in remote, isolated, and island areas,” said Ran. “We hope to establish an effective partnership with investors and developers with technology like HDF Energy for hydrogen projects in the province.”
Geze also emphasised the importance of this partnership in Quang Ngai's green energy strategy. “We are thrilled to announce our partnership with Quang Ngai. This collaboration represents a significant step towards sustainable energy solutions, leveraging Quang Ngai's strategic advantages to drive innovation and environmental stewardship in the hydrogen sector,” he said.
HDF Energy is one of the leading global players in the hydrogen industry, dedicated to developing large-scale hydrogen infrastructure and advanced multi-megawatt fuel cell technology in multiple countries.
In its efforts to advance green hydrogen power projects in Vietnam, HDF Energy has been working closely with various agencies, organisations, and local authorities to assess and identify suitable locations for development. Quang Ngai, known for its substantial renewable energy potential, is among the key sites under consideration.
Vietnam's national hydrogen development strategy focuses on promoting green hydrogen across all energy-consuming sectors while encouraging investment in hydrogen production for export.
Therefore, Vietnam plans to create legal frameworks to help businesses transition to hydrogen energy production. The government will also regulate investment approvals for offshore wind projects and renewable energy-based hydrogen and ammonia production for export. New policies will be introduced to attract further investment in the hydrogen sector.
Green hydrogen: a strategic leap towards sustainability Green hydrogen has the potential to transform Vietnam’s energy landscape and reduce dependence on imported fossil fuels. RMIT senior lecturer of Logistics and Supply Chain Management Dr. Majo George explained to Minh Ngoc why it is high time Vietnam invested in green hydrogen technology. |
