It will be the city’s second pedestrian street after Nguyễn Huệ Pedestrian Street in District 1.
Bùi Viện Street is a popular gathering area for foreign visitors to have fun and meals, with many budget hotels and tourism shops.
When the Bùi Viện Pedestrian Street opens, visitors will have free wifi, information services and public toilets. All vehicles will be prohibited from 7pm to 2am.
Vietnamese traditional and international music will be performed on the street every Saturday and Sunday.
Bùi Viện Street’s 1,400m long sidewalk is being paved with granite stone and decorated with light posts. The two entrances of the street will have a stylised palm-leaf conical hat design.
The Department of Tourism and the District 1 People’s Committee will offer training about community tourism for residents living on the street, according to Nguyễn Thị Thu Hường, deputy chairwoman of District 1 People’s Committee.
