Hanoi temporarily suspends outdoor sports activities and passenger transport

Accordingly, from 6pm on July 8, outdoor sports and fitness activities will be temporarily suspended until a new notice from Hanoi People's Committee.

The committee requires people to only go out when necessary, strictly implement 5K regulations, and fully comply with pandemic prevention measures.

The requirement has been imposed due to the complicated spread of the COVID-19 pandemic in the south, with many people arriving to the capital.

The committee also set up fixed and mobile checkpoints in high-risk areas such as industrial parks, industrial clusters, apartment buildings, medical examination and treatment establishments, schools, markets, commercial centres, and parks.

Units will remain on stand-by 24/7 to immediately deploy measures to trace and promptly handle potential infections.

Also, on July 8, Hanoi Department of Transport issued a document on the organisation of road passenger transport activities to ensure safety in the prevention and control of the COVID-19 pandemic in the city.

Particularly, from 12am on July 8, public passenger transport between Hanoi and 14 cities and provinces will be suspended, except for contract vehicles carrying experts, officials, employees of agencies, industrial parks, and export processing zones.

They include Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong, Dong Nai, Khanh Hoa, Phu Yen, Dak Lak, Quang Ngai, Quang Nam, Da Nang, Thua Thien Hue, Ha Tinh, Nghe An, Thanh Hoa, and Ha Nam.

The department will only allow vehicles to resume operation once 14 consecutive days pass by without new cases of COVID-19 infection detected in the community.

Regarding transport business using buses, taxis, contract vehicles, tourist vehicles, and fixed-route vehicles, the department requires strict compliance with the inspection and control of passengers.
