Hanoi calls for donations to assist typhoon-ravaged provinces

Hanoi is seeking donations to help people hit by typhoon Yagi.

This donation drive was initiated by the Vietnam Fatherland Front to provide immediate aid to cities and provinces affected by typhoon Yagi, supporting recovery efforts.

According to data from the Vietnam Disaster and Dyke Management Authority, as of the morning of September 10, northern cities and provinces had reported 65 people dead, 40 people missing, and over 750 injured, with Cao Bang and Lao Cai recording the highest casualties.

In agriculture, nearly 150,000 hectares of rice paddies, mainly in Hai Duong, Bac Giang, and Haiphong, were submerged, while 27,000ha of crops and 11,000ha of fruit trees were damaged. Nearly 1,600 aquaculture cages were swept away, primarily in Quang Ninh.

Additionally, flooding on the Red River in Phu Tho caused the collapse of Phong Chau Bridge. Tens of thousands of houses in Yen Bai, Thai Nguyen, Lao Cai, Cao Bang, and Bac Giang were submerged by up to 1.5m of water, with over 48,000 houses damaged.
