The Ford Ranger, Explorer, and Transit all defended their market leading positions in the first quarter, adding to their five-year reign

The Ranger pickup truck, Explorer premium SUV, and Transit commercial van each maintained leadership of their respective segments during the first quarter, continuing their multi-year reign in the market.

The strong quarterly performance was capped by Ford Vietnam’s all-time best retail sales for March, rising 32 per cent year-over-year to 2,501 vehicles.

“The launch of Ranger, Raptor, and Everest gave our sales an additional boost heading into the year-end, and that momentum carried through into the first quarter and helped drive our overall performance,” said Pham Van Dung, managing director of Ford Vietnam.

The segment-defining Ranger – Vietnam’s best-selling pickup for the last five consecutive years – delivered first quarter sales that rose by 2 per cent to 2,786 vehicles, as strong demand continues across the full Ranger lineup in Vietnam.

The new Ranger features the 2.0L Bi-Turbo and 2.0L Single Turbo engines, as well as the proven Duratorq engine – helping bolster its wide appeal among Vietnamese customers.

The full lineup in Vietnam consists of different Ranger models, including the Wildtrak, XLT, XLS, and XL variants. It also includes the Ranger Raptor, the Asia-Pacific’s first and only high-speed, off-road performance pickup truck.

The recently launched new Everest contributed to the quarterly performance with sales of 1,535 vehicles. Designed to redefine expectations for a mid-sized SUV, the Everest continues to gain in popularity with its bold design, refined interior, and off-road capabilities with on-road comfort. A wide range of advanced driver-assist technologies help make the Everest one of the smartest and safest vehicles in its segment.

The Transit maintained its leadership of Vietnam’s commercial van and bus segment in the first quarter with sales of 1,208 vehicles. The Transit continues to deliver the ideal value proposition for business owners and operators across a range of industries.

The EcoSport compact SUV delivered first quarter sales that increased by 43 per cent to 1,077 vehicles. The popular EcoSport is a combination of small car practicality with the agility of an SUV.

The sporty Focus – equipped with the 1.5L EcoBoost engine – saw its first quarter sales jump by 114 per cent from the same quarter last year to 543 vehicles.

The US-imported Explorer remained Vietnam’s best-selling premium full-size SUV in the first quarter with retail sales rising 24 per cent to 350 vehicles. The Explorer is equipped with a 2.3L EcoBoost engine as well as a suite of smart technologies and safety features.
