Danish and Vietnamese musicians to perform at EU Music Fest 2017

The artist group includes The Bay Collective and its guest artists: diva Thanh Lam, multi-award winner musician/singer Michael Møller, Van Mai (zither), Ha Dinh Huy (percussion) and Hai Bang (bass).

The Bay Collective is an open project by famous Vietnamese/Danish pianist Tri Minh and Danish singer/song writer Nay Ruby. They blend jazz/pop vibes with their original new, compositions and remake some of the well-known songs from their respected culture background in their native language.

That is one of the key reasons why Embassy of Denmark in Vietnam always supports collaborations between Vietnamese and Danish artists. Since 2006, our Cultural Programme in Vietnam has become a bridge that bring hundreds of artists together,” said Cultural Counsellor of the embassy of Denmark in Vietnam, Ms. Ane Kirsten Andersen.

This year the EU Music Festival – which is organised by the European Union - brings a variety of music genres to its audience, from classical to to jazz, pop, R&B, electronic and contemporary traditional music.

The event will be held in Hanoi's Youth Theatre, 14 Ngo Thi Nham Street and HCM City's Conservatory of Music from 17 November to 2 December 2017.

“Landscape”, The Bay Collective’s first album is a journey of culture exploration with original compositions, painting pictures of landscapes and emotions with their music and lyrics which also raise awareness on environmental issues. The Bay Collective is an intimate duo of piano and vocal and on stage also with invited guest(s).

Nay Ruby is a Danish and Copenhagen based singer/songwriter who writes songs about her own experiences in life with inspiration from nature, traveling experiences and people.

She mixes up pop/soul with a hint of indie in her songs where the subtle, catchy melodies are accompanied by her own piano playing.

In her songwriting career Nanna has been mentored by the well-known international jazz singer Gretchen Parlato and multi award-winner Michael Møller. She has warmed up for big international names like Macy Gray, Emilie Nicolas and Aura and is also a member of the band IDA RED who is negotiating contract with Warner Music at the moment. Nanna is one of the most interesting up-coming singer/songwriters in Denmark right now and one to follow.

Tri Minh started his career as a performing artist in the early 1990s, when he co-initiated Hanoi’s first jazz band, which performed for years in various venues across Vietnam’s capital.

In the late 1990s, Tri Minh started experimenting with electronic music through collaborations with international artists performing as a solo artist and in various forms of collaborations in Vietnam and Europe.

The international artists and groups include: Mouse on Mars, and Robert Henke (DE), D’fuse (UK), Robin Scanner (UK). In the mid and late 2000s, Tri Minh started sampling his own recordings and sounds and started mixing in and performing with various constellations of traditional and later also classical Vietnamese artists.

Through his varied and extensive performances, collaborations, and compositions Tri Minh has become an experienced electronic music performer and an expert in studio works and in collaborations between artists from different countries and cultures and musical fields.

Tri Minh has released three solo albums, and featured in various international compilation.
