Da Lat’s Tuyen Lam Lake site recognised as national tourism site

Tuyen Lam Lake tourist site in Da Lat city, the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong was officially recognised as a national tourism site, the first national tourism site of its kind in Vietnam.

The People’s Committee of Lam Dong province held a ceremony on January 27 to announce the Prime Minister’s decision regarding the recognition of the national tourism site.

The Tuyen Lam national tourism site is about 5km south of the inner Da Lat city and covers nearly 3,000ha including 10% of water surface area. The tourism site has begun operation since 2004 and it welcomed over two million visitors in 2017.

At the ceremony, the Organising Board also announced the opening of the Da Lat cherry blossom festival 2017 and presented the title ‘Da Lat - ASEAN Environmentally Sustainable City’ to Da Lat authorities, which is the fourth year Da Lat has been honoured with the title.

Da Lat is located in the buffer zone of the Lang Biang Biosphere Reserve including over 19ha of special-use forest and protection forest which is also home to over 3,000 species of plants.

Da Lat has approximately 200,000 prunus cerasoides cherry trees including more than 35,000 trees at the Tuyen Lam Lake national tourism site.

This year’s cheery blossom festival features various activities which mainly take place on streets named after flowers including Phuong Tim, Cam Tu Cau, Do Quyen, Hoa Hong streets among others.
