The statement was made by Peeyush Sharma, CEO of Coca-Cola Beverage Vietnam Co., Ltd. at the Danang Investment Forum 2022 held by the Danang Party Committee and the municipal People's Committee. At the forum, the leader of Coca-Cola had a chance to share the company’s vision with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, the leaders of Danang, and the Ministry of Planning and Investment.

As a foreign investment enterprise (FIE) based in Danang for over 20 years, Coca-Cola Vietnam has always accompanied the local authorities and people in socioeconomic and environmental protection activities. It highly appreciates the favourable investment climate and attractive incentives offered by the government as well as the local leaders.

The company is committed to supporting the deepening of bilateral ties between Vietnam and the US. This will help leverage Vietnam in general, and Danang specifically, to become an attractive investment destination for FIEs.

Sharma stressed, “We hope to cooperate with the state government and local authorities in various initiatives to support the community and protect the environment, especially within the framework of the programmes accompanying the government to realise its COP26 commitments to achieve net-zero by 2050.”

Coca-Cola continues to reinforce its sustainable development commitments in all of its operational activities in Vietnam, focusing on the three pillars of business growth, environmental protection, and community support.

Last December, Coca-Cola Vietnam was named among the top three most sustainable companies in Vietnam in 2021 at the CSI-100 Ceremony, organised by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry in cooperation with the Vietnam Business Council for Sustainable Development, the Ministry of Labor, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, and the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor.

This is the sixth consecutive year that Coca-Cola was honoured as one of the most sustainable companies in Vietnam.

In 2021, Coca-Cola switched Sprite from its iconic green bottle to a clear and transparent PET bottle to make it easier to recycle. With this important change in packaging design, Coca-Cola aims to boost the value of the packaging after use and recycling rates locally.

Furthermore, Coca-Cola Vietnam is rolling out a Recycle Me message on its package labels across all its brands and products to remind consumers to help recycle the bottle after they have enjoyed the drink.

Coca-Cola will increasingly be including recycling messages in its marketing campaigns and social channels to encourage consumers to recycle more.

The company has also cooperated with strategic implementation partners including the Centre for Supporting Green Development, UNESCO, and PRO Vietnam to accelerate local collecting and recycling initiatives while raising broader awareness of the benefits of proper waste segregation and recycling toward a circular economy in Vietnam.
