Bus routes from downtown Hanoi to Hương Pagoda launched

The Hanoi Transport and Services Corporation (Transerco) has launched two bus routes running from Gia Lam Coach Station and Kim Ma Street to carry visitors to the Huong (Perfume) Pagoda festival in Huong Son Commune, My Duc District.

The buses run from February 16 until March 15.

Six buses are departing every day from Gia Lam Station to Duc Khe Coach Station in My Duc District with another six buses running from No 1 Kim Ma Street to Duc Khe Station.

Each bus has 60 seats and runs every 30 to 60 minutes from 4am. Tickets cost VND9,000 (US$0.4).

Transerco has increased the number of buses running on route 103A from My Dinh Coach Station to Huong Son and route 103B from My Dinh Station to Hong Quang, Ung Hoa to 90 trips per day on each route.

Located about 60km from Hanoi’s downtown, Huong Pagoda is one of the most famous cultural and spiritual tourism destinations in the north.

The pagoda’s festival, the biggest and longest annual festival in Vietnam, lasts three months from the sixth day of the Lunar New Year (which fell on February 10 this year) until the lunar month of March.

Every year it welcomes a large number of pilgrims and tourists.

On the morning of the first festival day this year (February 10), more than 50,000 visitors flocked to the holy site. The festival is expected to welcome 1.5 million people this year.
