Vietnam's 10 most-active property developers, architecture firms, and contractors were awarded at the annual BCI Asia Awards ceremony on May 31 at Sheraton Saigon Grand Opera Hotel.

The portfolios of these elite architecture firms hold $5.97 billion worth of properties scheduled to start construction in Vietnam soon, while the portfolios of the top developers were valued at $3.93 billion.

These firms were chosen based on the greatest aggregate value of projects under construction during the last full calendar year, weighted by the extent of their sustainability efforts. For architecture firms, pre-tender projects were included to recognise the early incorporation of green design efforts.

The inaugural Top 10 Main Contractors in Vietnam were also identified as the firms with the greatest aggregate value of projects with confirmed green-building status at the construction stage, coming in at $11.73 billion from the start of 2022 until last December at Construction stage.

The 2024 Top 10 Developers Award for Vietnam was given to, in alphabetical order, BRG Group, DOJILAND Real Estate Investment Co., Ltd., Flamingo Holdings, Gamuda Land Vietnam, Hoang Huy Group, Indochina Kajima Development Limited, Keppel Vietnam, SonKim Land Corporation, Sun Group, and Vinhomes JSC.

The 2024 BCI Asia Top 10 Architects Award was won by, in alphabetical order, Archetype Group, Archivina Consulting JSC, Baumschlager Eberle Architekten, CUBIC Architects, HPA Design & Partners (Vietnam) Co., Ltd., MH Architects JSC, Ong & Ong Co Ltd, Sagen Constructive Design Consultancy J.S.C, TwoG Architecture JSC, and Vertical Studio Construction Design Consulting Co., Ltd.

The 2024 BCI Asia Top 10 Contractors Award was granted to, again in alphabetical order, CDC Construction JSC, Central Construction JSC, CJSC - Construction Application and Transfer of Technologies JSC, Coteccons Construction JSC, DELTA Group, Hoa Binh Construction Group JSC, Phuc Hung Holdings, SOL E&C Investment Construction JSC, Unicons Investment Construction Co., Ltd., and Viteccons Construction Investment JSC.

The event also showcased regional winners and merit recipients of Asia's leading green design competitions, the FuturArc Prize (FAP) and BCI Interior Design Awards (IDA).

The FAP competition helps inspire and elevate the creativity and spirit of sustainability in architecture professionals and students alike. The most recent cycle was held from September last year until February. Entrants were asked to propose architectural solutions and ideas for the continuation of life after the worst and most destructive elements of climate change.

The competition received over 700 registrations from more than 20 countries. This jury comprised multidisciplinary environmental experts from across Asia. Dzung Do Nguyen, co-founder and CEO of enCity and enfarm Agritech, Farizan d’Avezac de Moran, senior partner and leader at GreenA Consultants, and Dr. Tony Ip, founder of Tony Ip Green Architects, were among the panel.

Following two rounds of judging, the FAP 2024 winners and merit recipients will be awarded at the respective local 2024 BCI Asia Awards to be held across the seven BCI Central countries.

Merit Awards from Vietnam went to Reviving Mines – The Tan Cang Ecosystem, from the team of Ha Nhut Anh and Nguyen Gia Huy from University of Architecture Ho Chi Minh City; Circulation of Life, from the team of Pham Nguyen Hung, Le Xuan Vinh Khang, Ho Nghiem Thuy Quynh, and Nguyen Thanh Tan from University of Architecture Ho Chi Minh City; and Haven to Heaven, from the team of Nguyen Chi Dung, Pham Duong Dang Huy, Thach Tran Xuan Anh, and Le Quoc Thai from Danang University of Technology.

The awardees will receive cash prizes, trophies, certificates, and recognition on the FuturArc print and online platforms.

The BCI IDAs is a renowned competition that recognises beauty and originality in completed interior design projects in Southeast Asia and Hong Kong.

The 2024 cycle called for projects that could demonstrate a masterful command over colour and texture in crafting ingenious interiors, as well as contributing to sustainability and providing a positive impact.

More than 280 firms with projects in Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam participated in this cycle.

The jurors for this cycle are professionals with expertise in the design industry for more than 15 years: Budi Kurniawan, the founder and principal designer of BK Studio in Indonesia, IDrNorshafina Ibrahim, the co-founder of Skala Design Consult SdnBhd in Malaysia, and Vicky Chan, the founder of Avoid Obvious Architects in Hong Kong.

The project teams will be awarded at the respective local 2024 BCI Asia Awards, to be held across the region.
