Speaking at a conference held on August 18, Minh stated that these collaborations create a driving force to promote responsible business activities, enhance the position and reputation of a brand, and achieve sustainable economic, social, and environmental benefits.
The conference sat within the framework of the Win-Win for Vietnam project that is co-sponsored by the Delegation of the European Union (EU) to Vietnam. The initiative is being implemented from September 2020 to February 2024.
“The project aims to strengthen the capacity of organisations and businesses in Vietnam through cooperative activities that create common value and promote sustainable development,” Minh shared.
Brenda Candries, programme manager of the Delegation of the EU to Vietnam asserted, “We work in partnership with non-state actors, non-governmental organisations, and private sector associations to achieve inclusive and sustainable development. The aim is to promote transparency and accountability in all sectors of our cooperation.”
Climate change, extreme weather events, and the current state of the environment are major global challenges today, demanding decisive action to change production and consumption habits.
In Vietnam, the government’s commitment in its National Strategy on Climate Change to reach the net-zero target by 2050, along with regulations on international trade, is both a driving force and a mandatory requirement for the business sector.
The take-home from the conference was that the roadmap to greening Vietnam requires the responsible participation of the business community to promote more effective cooperation opportunities with social organisations, thereby increasing the impact and creating shared value.
