Mau Son Mountain in Lang Son: Only 30km away from the centre of the city of Lang Son, Mau Son Mountain is surrounded by hundreds of big and small mountains. The peak is always covered with fog in winter, creating a picturesque landscape.
In November and December (lunar calendar), when the weather is extremely cold, it is an amazing place for travellers to experience the beauty of snow and ice.
Sapa in Lao Cai: Located in north-west Vietnam, at an altitude of 1,600m above sea level, Sapa is one of the best places to watch snowfall in Vietnam.
Visitors can catch falling snow in the Hoang Lien Son Mountain Range, Silver Waterfall, Heaven Gate or O Quy Ho Pass during the winter.
Tay Con Linh in Ha Giang Province: With an altitude of 2419 metres, Tay Con Linh - the roof of the northeast mountain region – also has ice and snow in the winter.
It stretches across two provinces, Hoang Su Phi and Vi Xuyen.
Phia Oac in Cao Bang province: With an elevation 1,930m above sea level, Phia Oac mountain is the roof top of Cao Bang Province.
Phia Oac does not have frequent snowfall like Sapa but if you’re lucky, you may see snowflakes stretching across the roofs in winter.
Dong Van-Meo Vac in Ha Giang Province: The temperature of this place is often so low, in many places in Dong Van and Meo Vac, you can enjoy cold air and snow 4-5cm thick. Apart from that, visitors can climb to the top of other mountains in the communes throughout the region to see snow and ice. |
