The four-day festival, which wraps up today, includes festivities, cultural and sport activities and seminars on traditional and modern values of Nha Trang City, which is known for the bay of the same name, one of the world’s 30 most beautiful bays.
There is an exhibition of maps and documents serving as solid evidence of Vietnam’s sovereignty over Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelagos in the East Sea, a national boat race, a food festival, a basket boat race, and a street art performance.
Visitors can see unique activities like a traditional fishing festival, a release of marine creatures into the sea to raise public awareness of marine resource conservation, an exhibition of photos on the beauty of the homeland, and a conference on birds’ nest, a specialty of the province.
Held for the first time in 2003, the biennial festival is intended to promote the beauty of Nha Trang Bay and disseminate information about the country’s seas and islands as well.
Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hoang Anh Tuan said at the opening ceremony that this is not just a cultural and tourism promotion event but an opportunity to express love and responsibility for the country’s seas and islands.
