German hip-hop artists to join national tournament

Two famous German hip-hop dancers, Uwe Donaubauer and Louis Becker, will arrive in Hanoi to join Floor Killer, the 4th national recreational dance championship scheduled for July 5 and 6, from 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Savico Megamall, 7 Nguyen Van Linh Street, Long Bien District, Hanoi, the Goethe Institute announced in a statement.

Floor Killer is the annual tournament featuring the top six hip-hop genres in the world, namely Breaking, Hip Hop, Locking, Popping, Waacking and House. This contest is open to both professional and amateur dancers from Vietnam and abroad. Teams and individuals will join in knock-out competitions.

This year, spectators can see strange, attractive and unique performances by dancers from Vietnam and especially the champions from Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore and Germany.

Uwe Donaubauer, a German hip-hop champion, graduated from the FRK Dance Academy Austria as a hip-hop, breakdance and locking instructor. In 2007-2013 he participated in numerous competitions in Europe and Asia and won many awards. In 2013 he won first prize at BOTY dance competition in Germany.

Louis Becker is one of the best-known B-Boys in Germany. He studied from 2004 to 2009 at Die Etage, a school of performing art, artist, acrobat, and earned a decree on hip-hop at the Tanzzwiet Dance School in Berlin. He came in first with the band B-town Allstars at the ‘Battle of the Year Germany’ last year.
