Famous artists celebrate mid-autumn festival in Hanoi

With the participation of numerous famous artists and plenty of traditional games, “Thu Vong Nguyet” (Autumn Looking for Moon) promises to be an interesting event not only for children, but also for adults, and bringing about unforgettable memories of mid-autumn festival in Hanoi from days past.
“Thu Vong Nguyet” will host 500 artists and artisans from all around Vietnam

“Thu Vong Nguyet,” co-organised by the Hanoi People’s Committee and Hanoi Culture and Sport Facilities, with the support of Quan An Ngon (Good Food) Restaurant and the management board of Van Mieu-Quoc Tu Giam, is going to be a highlight event for Hanoi’s residents.

The festivities will take place between September 29 and October 1, from 5.00 PM to 10.00 PM. This will be the first time for such an event to attract up to 500 artists and cultural and historical researchers.

Well-known artists joining the event include Pham Hoang Nam (general director of the event), Le Thiet Cuong (painter), Quoc Trung (composer), Xuan Bac and Tu Long (comedians), Chieu Xuan (actress), Tri Minh (artist), Thuy Chi (singer), People’s Artist Thuy Huong, MeritoriousArtist Xuan Dieu, Duc Hung (designer), as well as numerous culinary artisans from all over the country. Children will be able to meet artisans and watch them perform their crafts

In Van Mieu-Quoc Tu Giam, children can return to a time without internet and smart phones to experience the traditional games of old, like mandarin square capturing, tug of war, dragon snake, jump-ropes, among many others. They will have the chance to interact with artisans, watching them making toy figurines, traditional masks, and lanterns.

Besides, children will explore the record large “dragon egg,” which was first time introduced in Hanoi. Hundreds of artisans from all over Vietnam will demonstrate their skills of pruning and arranging vegetables and fruits, traditional mid-autumn food, and moon cakes.

In this activity, innocent questions and laughs from children promise to waken memories of a traditional mid-autumn festival, when the whole family gathered to celebrate and watch the full moon.

Additionally, the event hosts numerous leading installation artists from across Vietnam, performing “River Light,” a combination of modern and traditional arts. Following this will be the fashion show of traditional Ao Dai, co-designed by Vietnam’s three leading designers Anh Thu, Ha Linh Thu, and Duc Hung. All will be harmonically mixed to create a beautiful memory of the mid-autumn moon viewing.
