The two companies stated on July 18 that they will continue to maintain their successful cooperation that has been going for almost a decade now.

The two sides committed to team up to build a joint innovation lab in Vienna. Of note, ZTE pledged to implement cutting-edge (pre-5G) technology to support Austria’s progress to become a leading digital nation.

ZTE is a leading technology firm with worldwide knowhow and intense research and development activities in the 5G sector. In order to implement these cutting-edge solutions, strategic partnerships between telecommunication equipment providers and mobile network operators are essential.

ZTE has been operating on the Austrian market by providing innovative equipment and solutions for the telecommunications industry since 2008. One of the most valuable and lasting partnerships is with Hutchison Drei Austria GmbH, which was one of the first such partnerships.

Over the past years, several network upgrades have been deployed to meet even higher quality standards and to continuously improve services. After almost 10 years of growing stronger together, ZTE Austria and Hutchison Drei GmbH committed to strengthen their relationship and develop their joint innovation lab in Vienna.

For this 5G innovation lab, the two sides are testing and analysing future ZTE technologies together to implement dedicated knowledge to the Austrian market.

Christian Woschitz, CEO of ZTE Austria, said that 5G is the game-changer technology on the market right now. ZTE is very proud to bring their expertise and to help Austria become Europe’s leading digital nation. 5G technology needs commitments within different industries to unfold its whole digital potential.

"I very much appreciate our long-lasting, trustworthy, and strong partnership with Hutchison Drei. I am keen to see what innovative projects the future holds for this cooperation in Austria," Woschitz added.

Jan Trionow, CEO of Hutchison Austria Drei, asserted that the first result of the joint innovation was the successful evaluation of the pre-5G technology.

"We have already launched the commercial pre-5G network in Vienna at the beginning of this year. This step was a major breakthrough on the European telecommunications market, which enables Austria to become a real 5G pioneer. This outstanding achievement was only feasible with a reliable, strong partner, like ZTE," said Jan Trionow.

ZTE is a provider of advanced telecommunications systems, mobile devices, and enterprise technology solutions to consumers, carriers, companies and public sector customers.

As part of ZTE’s strategy, the company is committed to providing customers with integrated end-to-end innovations to deliver excellence and value as the telecommunications and information technology sectors converge.

Listed in the stock exchanges of Hong Kong and Shenzhen (H share stock code: 0763.HK / A share stock code: 000063.SZ), ZTE’s products and services are sold to over 500 operators in more than 160 countries. ZTE commits 10 per cent of its annual revenue to research and development and has leadership roles in international standard-setting organisations.

ZTE is committed to corporate social responsibility and is a member of the UN Global Compact.
