Realising the importance of environmental education in the general curriculum, GreenHub joined forces with the Experimental School of Education Science (ESES) and H&M Vietnam to raise awareness and introduce zero-waste practices.

The camp promoted green living among students, both at home and at school.

The camp provided practical knowledge to the students who were also given many environmentally-friendly gifts.

To ensure the safety of students, the announcement of ZHUB and the opening of the event were carried out with each class separately instead of gathering in the schoolyard.

The students participated in the Collecting Old Clothes campaign organised by H&M as part of its recycling activities across the country. The camp provided practical knowledge to the students who were also given many environmentally-friendly gifts.

GreenHub handed over facilities to ESES to allow the school to fulfil its commitment to waste segregation at the source. There was also a playground for students to practice composting and tree planting at the Materials Recovery Facility (MRF).

According to Tran Thi Hoa, chair of GreenHub’s Founding Council, a cooperation agreement with ESES was signed on November 17 to implement the ZHUB programme.

“Through coordination between the centre and the school, we have reached agreement on several activities related to waste segregation and MRF construction. GreenHub hopes that the bilateral cooperation will become even more far-reaching in the future,” said Hoa.

Le Thi Mai Huong, vice principal in charge of Environmental Education at ESES explained, “Environmental education activities at ESES have been carried out for many years, but the school wants to ensure that they are sustainable, not simply a short-term trend. GreenHub has helped in changing the perception of teachers and students through training. With support from GreenHub, we will work with the students to sustainably implement these activities.”

From April last year, H&M started to collect a fee of VND2,000 (8.6 US cents) from customers for a new paper bag when shopping at its stores to encourage them to bring reusable bags.

All proceeds from this will be given to GreenHub to encourage green lifestyles, reduce waste, and protect the environment.
