The West West Lake project has taken another big step forward with its planned zoning getting the green light.

The development will ease the capital’s property pressures
Hanoi Mayor Nguyen The Thao’s approval last week means the investor must push the pace of the $314 million project to create a city west of the capital’s West Lake.
Expected to start last year, the project is so far nearly a year behind schedule.
Lee Kwon Sang, president of THT Development Company, said the developer had been ready to get started for months but delays were caused due to reclaimed land compensation.
“We have been waiting. We are one year behind schedule and need to move quicker,” Sang said.
The task of finalising land clearance and compensation was assigned to the Hanoi Land Development Fund, an arm of the Hanoi People’s Committee.
Sang said the ground breaking ceremony should be held by next February, with the first order of business being the building of needed infrastructure. The construction of the township is expected to complete in 2011.
The 207 hectare site, in the city’s three outskirt districts of Tay Ho, Cau Giay and Tu Liem, will include office buildings, commercial centres, luxury hotels, residential areas and parks.
