The promotional programme was launched as part of activities to mark the 41st anniversary of the Liberation of Thua Thien-Hue province (March 26, 1975-2016).

Specifically, the sites, including Dai Noi (the Royal Palace), the tombs of Tu Duc, Khai Dinh and Minh Mang Kings and Hon Chen temple will be open from 7am to 5pm for visitors.

According to the Thua Thien-Hue provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the number of tourists to the province during the first quarter was estimated at 731,000, a year-on-year increase of 5.5%, of which 280,000 were international travellers.

The province’s tourism sector earned a total revenue of VND737 billion (US$33 million) in the first quarter, up 8% over the same period last year.

Since early 2016, the authorities have focused on implementing numerous key programmes to develop tourism services and stimulate tourism including a ceremony welcoming the first visitors by air to Hue in 2016, the provincial Culture, Sports and Tourism Festival, programmes connecting Hue tourism with other localities and attractive promotions.
