Vietnam SuperPort, a joint venture between YCH Group of Singapore and Vietnam’s T&T Group, is at the forefront of sustainability and digital changes to build the first net-zero multi-modal logistics hub in Southeast Asia.

As Vietnam accelerates its decarbonisation efforts, Vietnam SuperPort, located in Vinh Phuc province, is one of the first logistics projects to announce a bold commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2040.

To achieve this, Vietnam SuperPort is implementing new sustainability initiatives, greening the supply chain from distribution to suppliers, which will ultimately benefit consumers. The company is focusing on baseline sustainability efforts and specific infrastructure developments, such as clean energy, solar power, batteries, hydrogen, and energy-efficient solutions.

It is also using renewable energy certificates, carbon credits, and other measures to reduce residual emissions in pursuit of net-zero.

Additionally, the port plans to transition to an all-electric vehicle fleet by 2030. It is also committed to training the local workforce in sustainability practices, including energy transition, renewables management, and emissions tracking.

“With sustainability being a long-term priority, we want to play a key role and maximise opportunities in this space. By setting a goal of achieving net-zero by 2040, Vietnam SuperPort is raising the bar for sustainable, future-ready logistics hubs and reshaping Vietnam’s logistics industry,” said Yap Kwong Weng, CEO of Vietnam SuperPort.

A major focus of Vietnam SuperPort is digital transformation, aimed at enhancing competitiveness. In early October, the port announced its digital transformation plan, marking a significant milestone in its development. This aligns with Vietnam’s national strategy to create a smart, competitive, and sustainable logistics industry by 2035.

“Technology infrastructure is crucial to improving logistics. Building on YCH’s technologies, such as retrieval systems and transport management, we are exploring digital solutions for Vietnam SuperPort, including AI-driven automation, warehouse robotics, and advanced transport systems. These innovations will streamline operations, speed up order fulfilment, and improve inventory control,” Weng added.

Vietnam SuperPort is also collaborating with world-class partners to co-create advanced technologies. In mid-August, Singapore’s Agency for Science, Technology and Research engaged with the port to explore strategic collaboration on digital logistics, with proposals for AI and robotics as part of the development. This partnership aims to enhance supply chain efficiency and drive the digital transformation of Vietnam’s logistics sector.

Moreover, the port is integrating AI-based warehouse management software for real-time inventory tracking, demand forecasting, and performance measurement, supported by Y3 Technologies’ proprietary suite to optimise logistics efficiency across the region.

Innovative model

Vietnam SuperPort is pioneering the park-within-a-park model, integrating all supply chain management services into a single logistics hub. This model positions Vietnam SuperPort as a key player in regional logistics, with a focus on net-zero logistics facilities powered by clean energy, solar, water, and battery technologies.

“We believe this model is feasible and intend to implement it within our multi-modal logistics hub. From there, we will scale it up, using various green energy solutions to meet net-zero goals,” Weng said.

This concept will set a new standard for Vietnam’s logistics sector, combining digital capabilities with environmental responsibility. The port will develop a blockchain-based environmental, social, and governance management system to track carbon emissions, supporting its net-zero target for 2040. The infrastructure will also be upgraded with AI and other technologies as part of its carbon offsetting strategy.

To strengthen supply chain connectivity, Vietnam SuperPort is developing an AI-powered logistics marketplace as a global platform, connecting small- and medium-sized enterprises, financial institutions, and logistics providers, while improving transparency and access to capital.

Leveraging nearly 70 years of YCH Group’s logistics experience, the Singaporean company is bringing its expertise, technology, and manpower to develop Vietnam SuperPort. Spanning 83 ha in Vinh Phuc province, the multi-modal logistics hub connects air, land, sea, and rail operations. Its strategic location along the Northern Economic Corridor links 20 industrial parks to key seaports and airports, including Haiphong and Noi Bai, extending its reach into Yunnan and Kunming in China.

“Vietnam is poised for growth, strategically located next to China and the rest of ASEAN, including Cambodia, Laos, and Thailand. These countries play a vital role in regional connectivity and supply chains. Our vision is to create a modern, smart, and connected logistics hub in Vietnam to enhance connectivity across China and Southeast Asia,” Weng said.

Vietnam SuperPort plans to build a dry port and integrated terminal for container handling, as well as developing a series of warehouses to meet growing logistics demand. These initiatives will contribute to the formation of a multi-modal logistics hub, serving Vietnam and the wider region.
