This was the first year the Vietnam Local Specialities Fair was organised along with OVOP |
Speaking at the fair’s opening ceremony, vice chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen Doan Toan stated that the event is expected to boost local firms doing business in special products and handicrafts, especially entering into co-operation with foreign suppliers, then promoting their brands in international markets.
“This year’s event will follow up the success of the previous years’ events, maintaining a trade bridge between local firms and distributors and foreign importers,” Toan added.
Organised at Royal City, the fair received more than 400 kiosks of local firms across 63 cities and provinces and from a several number of countries like Indonesia, Bulgaria, Pakistan, and others.
According to the HPA, throughout its four editions, the fair has created thousands of transactions between firms and distributors. In addition, a large number of local specialty products have been added into the retail and distributed systems and supermarkets like Big C, AEON Mall, Lotte, and Vinmart, helping “Vietnamese people give priority to Vietnamese goods.”
This year’s Vietnam Local Specialities Fair was co-organised with the OVOP Exhibition 2018. The exhibition also recorded the attendance of 20 trade villages and 60 craftsmen from the capital as well as the representatives of Japan’s Oita province, the cradle of the OVOP initiative.
