The Department of Performing Arts has given a permit for Truong Thi May to compete at Miss Universe 2013 in Russia.

May receives permission to compete at Miss Universe 2013

The permission finally arrived on October 11 after one month of waiting. During this time, Truong Thi May and Unicorp, the license holder of Miss Universe Organization in Vietnam, prepared for the competition.

May, 25, has modeled in a number of fashion shows in order to join one of the biggest beauty pageants. Designer Ly Qui Khanh agreed to prepare her outfits and evening gowns for May, the while traditional outfits will be designed by Thuan Viet.

May will fly to Russia on October 21

Truong Thi May is one of rare Vietnamese beauty queens not surrounded by scandal. She has participated in numerous charity activities since she became the first runner-up in Miss Vietnam Photogenic 2006 and Miss Ethnic Vietnam 2007.

Not only does May receive the support of fans, she is also highly rated by the overseas community. Missosology.org, a well-known international pageant forum, has selected May as a hot pick for the most promising contestants.

Fans place high hopes on May

The Miss Universe 2013 will be held from October 20 to November 9 in Russia with the final night taking place at Crocus City Hall in Moscow.

The official invitation from the organisers of Miss Universe was transferred to May on October 14, after she received permit from the Department of Performing Arts. On October 21, May will fly to Russia.

"I'm really happy. I'll try my best and I hope to you'll cheer me on. I also want to express my gratitude to the Department of Performing Arts for agreeing to let me take part in this contest." she said.
