Lam Dong – The scientific and educational organisation "Meeting Vietnam" handed over Vallet scholarships, worth over 2.7 billion VND (108,473 USD) in total, to outstanding students in five Central Highlands provinces and south central Khanh Hoa an Ninh Thuan provinces at a ceremony in Da Lat city, Lam Dong province on August 28.
As many as 125 excellent students of high schools for the gifted, ethnic boarding schools and high schools and those with disadvantaged backgrounds received scholarships worth 15 million VND each.
The remaining 30 scholarships, each worth 29 million VND, were granted to needy students with outstanding academic performance and those from the universities of Da Lat, Nha Trang, and Tay Nguyen.
Established in 2001, the organisation’s Vallet Scholarship Fund has been sponsored by Professor Odon Vallet from France’s Sorbonne University. It has so far granted more than 500 billion VND worth of scholarships to Vietnamese students.
This year, the fund has presented over 2,100 scholarships worth 50 billion VND to students nationwide.
