Delivery companies prepare shippers with necessary tools to operate in the city during social distancing period |
To minimise the spread of COVID-19, Ho Chi Minh City have requested delivery companies to issue their employee badges with QR codes for identification and armbands with the word "Shipper" printed on it. The municipal authorities also allow shippers to move across districts and Thu Duc City to deliver essential goods to the quarantined areas and medical centres.
In light with the city’s guidelines, many delivery companies are accelerating preparations for their shippers to meet the new requirements. Among them, J&T Express has made efforts to complete the full identification for its shippers as directed by the municipal People's Committee by July 30.
Kieu Thi Tien Dung, Human Resources director of J&T Express, said that the company has strictly implemented the Ministry of Health’s 5K measures. All J&T Express shippers are equipped with uniforms, boxes, company logo, papers, order management apps, and photo-embedded badges for easy recognition and regulation.
“In addition, the company has also deployed an app to identify shippers with through QR codes and armbands with the word "Shipper" printed in white on a dark blue background. As the number of shippers had to be cut by 10-20 per cent to comply with the city's requirements, they are working from 6am to 6pm every day,” she said.
Faced with the risk of being fined and contacting coronavirus, many shippers have urged their colleagues to fully implement disease prevention measures.
The municipal Department of Industry and Trade has recently compiled a list of 62,000 drivers from 16 delivery service providers to be vaccinated against COVID-19 during the social distancing period. J&T Express has also proposed more than 2,000 shippers in this vaccination round to the city.
