Healthcare is the second strongest business of Philips in the world, accounting for 34 per cent sales last year.
According to Vincent Chan, general manager of Philips Healthcare Asean, the company would boost a plan to deliver a diversified range from middle to high grade healthcare products and services such as Imaging systems, home healthcare solutions, patient care and clinical informatics in Vietnam.
“In the short term, we want to increase the awareness of Vietnamese people about Philips healthcare,” said Sharad Jhingan, product manager of patient monitoring and cardiac care of Philips Healthcare Asean.
Binh Duong-based Hanh Phuc Hospital, the first international women and children’s hospital in Vietnam, was the first in Vietnam to install the Avalon CTS and OB TraceVue mother and child care solutions from Philips since it opened in January this year.
“With a population rapidly approaching 90 million, Vietnam is one of the fastest growing economies of South East Asia and demand for quality healthcare has risen steadily,” said Chan.
The company will focus on the mother and child care segment products and solutions and it is working with both private and government hospital for this expansion plan.
According to Vietnam’s Ministry of Health, Vietnam had a birth rate of million newborns a year and there are approximately hundreds of thousands of babies born prematurely every year. Premature births account for over 70 per cent deaths for children under one years old.
