Earlier, the company was recognised by the Ministry of Finance among Vietnam’s top performers in tax contribution, marking nearly a decade that Nestlé Vietnam was awarded a Certificate of Merit by tax management agencies at both the central and local level for the effective implementation of their tax payment obligations, playing a role in implementing the country’s socioeconomic development targets.

Also in 2020 in Dong Nai where the company is based, Nestlé Vietnam was awarded a Certificate of Merit by Vietnamese prime minister to recognise its achievements in socioeconomic development as well as corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities.

“A global brand with good knowledge about local culture, Nestlé Vietnam always puts transparency and obedience of Vietnamese legal documents, particularly tax payment obligations, at our top priority,” said Johana Wiriadinata, Finance and Control director at Nestlé Vietnam.

“We are committed to further supporting the efforts to improve tax management efficiency through applying a tax-related risk management system and redesigning IT application and business process the tax sector is currently deploying,” she added.

Johana noted that despite a very challenging 2020, the company had scaled up efforts to complete its budget contribution target.

Aside form tax payments, the company has paid due regard to the fields that bring benefits where it counts most for the society, including nutrition, focusing on children; playing role in shaping thriving communities; and ensuring sustainable development in the countryside and management of natural resources in the future.

To develop thriving communities, Nestlé Vietnam has been actively upholding the Vietnamese coffee industry development.

To realise the targets of improving spiritual and material health, the stature and the quality of life for Vietnamese children, Nestlé Vietnam has joined the efforts of Vietnam’s Ministry of Education and Training, the General Department of Physical Training and Sports, and the Steering Committee for the master plan on enhancing physical strength and stature for Vietnamese people during 2011-2030, and deploying the Dynamic Vietnam programme in tandem with the Nestlé MILO brand.

To develop thriving communities, Nestlé Vietnam has been actively upholding the Vietnamese coffee industry development. Each year, the company injects $600-700 million into the country’s economy through coffee purchases. In addition, Nestlé Vietnam has engaged in projects providing sustainable farming practice and coffee tree re-cultivation for more than 230,000 coffee farmers in Vietnam’s Central Highlands provinces.

Nestlé Vietnam is operating four factories in Vietnam (three based in Dong Nai province) employing more than 2,300 labourers. Until now, the company’s investment value in Vietnam has surpassed $600 million and it was recognised as one of the foreign invested businesses with important contributions to Vietnam’s sustainable and inclusive development. In the recent past, Nestlé Vietnam was honoured in the Top 3 most sustainable companies in manufacturing.
