Masterise Group continues its Build a Better Future journey through a series of programmes to support children and young people affected by the pandemic with a total value of approximately $215,000.

Vietnam has reopened, but the impacts of the pandemic still linger on, particularly among impoverished children and the youth. In response to Humanitarian Month, Masterise Group has implemented community support activities focusing on three key areas including the living environment, education, and humanitarian relief as part of the long-term community initiative Build a Better Future.

Children are one of the key focus groups of the Build a Better Future programme since they are the most vulnerable to external factors such as pandemics and natural disasters. Since 2020, four waves of outbreaks have struck Vietnam, leaving thousands of children without their families or the chance to go to school.

According to statistics from the Institute of Labor and Social Sciences, more than 2,500 Vietnamese children have become orphaned as a result of the pandemic. Masterise Group has joined forces with the programme organiser of Cung con di tiep cuoc doi (Together with children to go on with life), offering long-term sponsorship for 30 orphans to alleviate their pain and assist them on their journey ahead.

Furthermore, the pandemic has had a significant impact on low-income families, forcing many children to put their studies on hold in order to support their families by earning a stable income. Understanding their challenges, Masterise Group has collaborated with the organiser of the Pair of Leaves for Caring programme to support 15 disadvantaged children from around the country. The programme will allow them to continue attending school in order to gain knowledge and secure a better future, thereby contributing to developing a sustainable society.

Support livelihoods for the young

With the goal of leaving no one behind, the Build a Better Future journey will be followed by the programme Livelihoods for Young People with Disabilities and Difficulties in June and July. Masterise Group is working with the organiser in collaboration with the Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City Youth Unions to support 100 disabled people in difficult circumstances.

Vietnam is speeding up operations to boost economic development and return people to normal life after nearly three years of challenges. This is an essential period for disabled and disadvantaged youth to start rebuilding their lives, beginning with seeking work. Their next journey will be more favourable thanks to timely support from Masterise Group and its partners and they will soon find a suitable job to stabilise their lives.

Jason Turnbull, deputy managing director and CFO at Masterise Homes said that “Children and young people are those who are most vulnerable and they need more care in order to get through this tough period. We hope that by providing early and effective support for children and young people, we will be able to contribute to the development of a sustainable future. This is among a series of activities under the framework of the Masterise Group's Build a Better Future journey.”

The long-term community programme Build a Better Future will continue to spread to other provinces and cities around the country in the coming time, with practical activities and many initiatives to help local children and adolescents.
