“Little Psy”, who first visited Vietnam late last year to play a guest role in the film, was enthusiastically welcomed by hundreds of fans in the exchange held at the Lotte Cinema Cong Hoa on May 27, in which the young star posed with his fans and gave autographs.
The boy also ‘exploded’ the venue by performing his signature dances featured in Psy’s two hits, “Gangnam Style” and “Gentleman”.
He’s set to join a press conference on May 28 and appear in exchanges to be held at the Lotte Cinema Nam Saigon at 6pm on May 28, and at the Lotte Cinema Diamond on May 29.
“Saigon Cinderella”, set for public screening from May 31, revolves around a Korean actor (played by Min Woo) who comes to Vietnam as a judge for a competition. He then meets and falls in love with a Vietnamese girl (played by local singer Minh Minh).
The film features stunning dances performed by “Little Psy” on HCMC streets.
Hwang, whose father is South Korean and mother is Vietnamese, was instantly catapulted to fame in Korea, and worldwide, following his brief performance in Psy’s massive hit “Gangnam Style”.
Upon the disclosure that his mother is Vietnamese, Hwang was targeted by vicious online comments blasting his multicultural background, which is a common social issue in South Korea.
