Vientiane - The Office of the Lao Prime Minister on January 20 asked authorities to consider loosening several COVID-19 prevention and control measures, including entry restrictions.

Accordingly, entry regulations will be loosened for businesspeople and workers to boost trade and investment. Tourism green zones will be expanded while the medical system will be consolidated to cope with a large number of infections caused by Omicron and Delta variants.

Several business activities will be allowed, except entertainment areas, pubs, bars and karaoke.

On January 21, the Lao Ministry of Health reported 675 new COVID-19 cases and 10 deaths in the past 24 hours. Laos has so far recorded 128,923 infections and 518 fatalities.
