Tamagawa Vietnam, under Japanese sensor manufacturer Tamagawa Seiki, held the grand opening of its $35-million factory in the northern province of Quang Ninh on March 21.

Covering 6.27 hectares in Song Khoai Industrial Park (Amata City Halong), the factory specialises in manufacturing angle sensors for electrical vehicle engines with a total capital of $35.75 million. The venture is estimated to reach a capacity of 14.49 million items per year and create jobs for 1,000 people.

Yasuo Hagimoto, chairman of Tamagawa Vietnam said, "Initially, the factory will focus on producing and exporting angle sensors for cars. In the future, Tamagawa Vietnam will expand its product portfolio in line with global market trends. Tamagawa Seiki has identified Tamagawa Vietnam as a hub for the group's global strategy, from there to expand manufacturing and distribution activities to the world."

"We will make the utmost efforts to develop the factory into the world-leading manufacturing facility in the fields of servo sensors and drive components," he said.

Tamagawa Vietnam, a member of Tamagawa Seiki Group (Japan), was established in March 1938, specialising in researching, manufacturing, and trading technology products for the defence, aerospace, and space industries, factory automation equipment, and automobiles.

The Tamagawa factory in Amata City Halong is Tamagawa Seiki's seventh factory and will become one of Tamagawa's four main production centres.

Tamagawa Seiki's major partners include Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Fuji Heavy Industries, Mitsubishi Electric, Toyota, Honda, the Japan Ministry of Defence, and the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency.

As of present, Amata City Halong has attracted 20 investment projects with a total investment of nearly $3 billion.
