The Hue International Arts Festival 2024, with the theme of Cultural Heritage with Integration and Development, will take place from June 7-12.
It promises to bring new and unique cultural, historical, and artistic experiences, serving as a gathering place for performances by prominent artists from both domestic and international scenes.
The event will showcase the exquisite art of court music and the enchanting melodies of folk songs.
According to the organisers, 12 art troupes and groups from seven countries have registered to participate in the Hue International Arts Festival 2024. These countries include Belgium, Spain, Japan, China, Canada, South Korea, and France.
The festival consists of nine major events that will take place continuously over six days and nights. The main performance venues are located in the Imperial Citadel of Hue, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, as well as community spaces along the banks of the Perfume River and central streets of Hue city.
This year's programme will feature a stage set up in front of the Kien Trung palace instead of in front of the Ngo Mon gate as in previous years. The Kien Trung Palace is an architectural and artistic treasure with significant historical value, which has recently undergone restoration.
According to Nguyen Van Phuong, Chairman of Thua Thien-Hue People's Committee, over the past 24 years, the Hue Festival has served as a catalyst for stimulating tourism, preserving culture, and driving local economic development.
Drawing from the experience of organising seasonal festivals, Hue Festival 2024 will continue to explore and leverage a series of festivals throughout the year, gradually building a new festival system.
The Spring Festival will take place from January to March. It will feature prominent activities such as the Royal Lunar New Year celebration, traditional Tet cultural spaces, and a rich variety of unique folk festivals.
The Summer Festival will take place from April to June. The highlight of this season is the Hue International Arts Festival 2024, which aims to introduce and promote Hue as a city of festivals, contributing to its development in this regard.
The Autumn Festival takes place from July to September, with the highlight being the Mid-Autumn Festival programme featuring the Lantern Festival of Hue, combined with street performances of lion and dragon dances.
The Winter Festival in Hue, held from October to December, features Hue Music Week 2024 as its main event and concludes with a countdown programme, bidding farewell to the Hue Festival 2024 and welcoming the new year.
