Chung said considering the popularity of Uniqlo, the arrival of the brand to Hanoi is great news for local people.
Expressing support for the Japanese company’s target and development orientations in Hanoi and in Vietnam in general, the Hanoi leader agreed that the two sides will continue with discussion to reach a cooperation deal between the Hanoi People’s Committee and Uniqlo.
He suggested that the company consider working with Vietnamese textile-garment companies to produce goods.
The Uniqlo executive informed his host that the company’s first store in Hanoi, the biggest in Southeast Asia, will open in early March. In the context of the COVID-19 epidemic, the company will ensure a safe shopping environment, he said.
According to Koyama, the company plans to open at least three stores in Hanoi during this year, and plans to work with local universities to recruit employees.
The same day, the Chairman of Hanoi People’s Committee hosted a reception for Malaysian Ambassador to Vietnam Dato’ Shariffah Norhana Syed Mustaffa.
