Four former leaders of Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam) subsidiaries have just been prosecuted for “abuse of powers or position for appropriation of property” under Article 355 of the 2015 Criminal Code.

According to the portal of the Ministry of Public Security (MoPS), the ministry’s investigation agency (C46) is investigating three cases of “abuse of powers or position for appropriation of property” in PetroVietnam’s Exploration Production Corporation (PVEP), Binh Son Refining and Petrochemical Co., Ltd. (BSR), and Vietsovpetro Joint Venture (VSP) under the management of PetroVietnam.

Based on the investigation results, C46 has announced to arrest and prosecute four former leaders of PetroVietnam’s subsidiaries, including:

Tu Thanh Nghia (1962), former general director of Vietsovpetro Joint Venture;

Vo Quang Huy (1961), former chief accountant of Vietsovpetro Joint Venture;

Dinh Van Ngoc (1973), former general director of BSR;

Nguyen Tuan Hung (1971), former head of the finance department of PVEP.

These cases will go under the supervision of the Central Steering Committee on Corruption Prevention and Combat. C46 is concentrating on clarifying the violations of the defendants and extending the investigation to involved parties, as well as freezing and seizing the properties of the defendants.
