First Vietnam Film Festival in France

A Vietnam film festival will be held at Saint Malo in France from July 1 to 6 in the framework of the Vietnamese Year in France. This is also the first time that the Vietnam Cinema Department under the Ministry of Culture, Sport and Tourism organizes the Vietnam Film Festival in France, VietnamPlus reports.

Artists participating in the Film Festival in France include director – artist Th anh Van and her husband, artist Nhuan Giang; director Vu Dinh Tuan, Doan Minh Tuan, and others.

Actors and actresses such as Truong Ngoc Anh, Hong Anh, Van Trang and Cam Lynh, as well as representatives from the Central Documentary and Science Film Studio, Giai Phong Film Studio, Vietnam Film Serial Studio, among others, will also participate in the this special festival.

The Vietnam Film Festival will introduce to the public many cinema works, which have a variety of themes, and are rich in expression. Besides the new films, the festival will also introduce other old, yet valuable cinema films that are still popular. The above information is provided by Deputy Director of Cinema Department Do Duy Anh in a meeting with journalists on June 25, 2014.

These include Bi mat tham do (Scandal), Khat vong Thang Long (Thang Long Aspiration), Lua Phat (Once Upon A Time in Vietnam), Mui co chay (The Scent of Burning Grass), Nhung nguoi viet huyen thoai (The Legend Makers), Tam long me (Ame Maternelle), Thien menh anh hung (Blood Letter), Trang noi day gieng (Moon At The Bottle Of The Well) and Va anh se tro lai (And I Will Come Back).

In addition, the organizer would like to introduce unique documentaries of Vietnam, including Con lai voi thoi gian, Cau chuyen lang Then (Story of Then Village), and Miet Thu, and some children animations such as Bo vang, Co mot canh rung (A Forest In Dreams) and Doi canh.

In the Vietnam Film Festival, there will be a series of films directed by Vietnamese-French directors, such as “Adrift”, “Indochine”, “L’amant”, “The Scent of Green Papaya”, and “The Vertical Ray of the Sun”.

The festival also features two films “Living with History” by Director Nguyen Th anh Van, and “Dien Bien Phu” by the French Director Pierre Schoendoerffer.

The festival is an interesting meeting between Vietnamese cinematography and French cinematography, marking a historical event that has been attached to the fate of both countries. The first Vietnam Film Festival in France is an activity to promote Vietnamese cinema and tourism.

At the same time, it aims to strengthen the cooperation between Vietnam and France in the field of Art, Film Production and Tourism Development.

This is an opportunity for Vietnam to bring its Cinema, as well as the charm of Vietnamese people and land, to share with the French people.

In the framework of the Vietnam Festival in France, many other activities will be held such as film screenings, exhibitions, meetings and seminars.
