FIFA Women's World Cup 2023 Trophy comes to Vietnam

The FIFA Women's World Cup Trophy Tour started on February 25 in Japan. From there, it is travelling to a series of Asian countries, with Vietnam being the fourth destination to welcome the trophy.

This is the first time Coca-Cola has joined forces with the VFF to organise the FIFA Women's World Cup Trophy Tour procession. The event marked a historic milestone as the Vietnamese Women's Football Team qualified for the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand for the first time.

Duong Nghiep Khoi, general secretary of the VFF said, "I am very proud that the Vietnamese Women's Football Team made it to the finals of the FIFA Women's World Cup 2023. We are also honoured that Vietnam is a destination for the FIFA Women's World Cup 2023 Trophy Tour. The Trophy procession event is a recognition of the achievements of Vietnamese women's football and reaffirms the position of the country's teams in the international arena. The VFF would like to express our gratitude to Coca-Cola for co-organising this event."

Leonardo Garcia, general director of Coca-Cola Vietnam and Cambodia said, "We believe that the FIFA Women's World Cup Trophy Tour brings encouragement and inspiration to Vietnamese girls and sports fans in general. Coca-Cola's customers are also die-hard football fans who have the spirit of believing in magic. Accompanying this special event, Coca-Cola would like to celebrate every moment of connecting with sports fans in harmony with the passionate sporting spirit around the world."

Participating in the FIFA Women's World Cup 2023 Trophy event in Vietnam, representative of Vietnam Women's National Football Team Chuong Thi Kieu proudly expressed that, "For female players and athletes, seeing the real World Cup Trophy close up brings great happiness. FIFA, the VFF, and Coca-Cola have brought not only joy but also motivation for us. As a national football player, I was inspired when I saw this coveted prize with my own eyes. It drives me to work harder to contribute to the Women’s National Football Team."

FIFA’s Trophy Tour project lead Sarah Gandoin said, “I am honoured to celebrate the official stop of the FIFA Women’s World Cup Trophy Tour here in Vietnam. It goes beyond anything that has been done before, inspiring women and girls by shining a spotlight on the skills, stories, and creativity of the women’s game that will be showcased in Australia and New Zealand.”

“This is the biggest-ever FIFA Women’s World Cup Trophy Tour, and it comes at a time when we are looking forward to the biggest-ever FIFA Women’s World Cup. With Vietnam’s top female footballers gearing up to take on the best in the world, this is a fantastic opportunity for fans to come along and enjoy an unforgettable experience,” Gandoin said.

As the FIFA Women's World Cup Trophy travels around the world, it promises to bring unique experiences. Youth players will be given a skills training session by coaches and football legends and be inspired by their stories about the team, the players, and their hopes for the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023.

The event was an inspiration for other women and girls, especially those in the U15-U19 age groups, to follow suit and be prepared to pursue the FIFA Women’s World Cup dream.

Coca-Cola has been a partner of FIFA since 1976 and has been an official sponsor of the FIFA World Cup since 1978. The FIFA Women's World Cup Trophy Tour aims to bring the iconic trophy to visit the 32 FIFA-eligible countries as part of Coca-Cola's efforts to promote women's football.
