It will be the first FESCO maritime service without ship calls to Russian ports in almost twenty years.
A 400 TEU container ship from the FESCO fleet will serve the route connecting the Vietnamese port of Ho Chi Minh City with Port Klang in Malaysia. The route will be served once a week, with the transit time between the ports being three days.
FESCO has ensured the availability of container equipment both in Ho Chi Minh and Port Klang in advance for the stable maritime line operation.
It is hoped that FIAS will develop local container transportation between Vietnam and Malaysia and serve as a feeder line to deliver additional cargo volumes from Malaysia and other markets like Sri Lanka, Singapore, Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, and Thailand to Russia. In this case, containers are shipped via Port Klang to Ho Chi Minh City, where they are switched to other FESCO vessels. The vessels sail to the Commercial Sea Port of Vladivostok (a member of FESCO Group) as a part of FESCO Vietnam Direct Line shipping service. FESCO will also ship cargo from Russia in the opposite direction through the port of Ho Chi Minh City.
FIAS cargo flow will be mainly chemical and agricultural products, food, textiles, and clothing.
The container ship will make the first call of FESCO Intra Asia Service at Port Klang on August 17, with the estimated date of arrival at Ho Chi Minh City being August 22.
"Thanks to FIAS, we are entering a fundamentally new market for FESCO and will be able to strengthen our presence in Southeast Asia while giving an additional impetus to the development of the group's existing line between Vietnam and Vladivostok. Furthermore, we plan to use Port Klang as an additional hub for cargo from India, Singapore, Bangladesh and other countries of the region both to Vietnam and further to Russia," said German Maslov, vice president of FESCO Linear Logistics Division.
