Investment director of Vietnam-Oman Investment (VOI) Nguyen Xuan Giao shared: "Besides investment activities, VOI, as a joint-venture between the two countries, is participating in social responsibility projects in Vietnam and Oman as part of our mission to promote economic and bilateral cooperation."

At the ceremony, Omani Ambassador Saleh Mohamed Ahmed Al Suqri lauded VOI for performing the role of an economic bridge, strengthening the relationship between the people of Vietnam and Oman through its social activities with its partners including: medical supplies, scholarships, building green schools, and relieving flood damage in Central Vietnam.

Specifically, in the historic flood season of 2020 in the central region, VOI and its portfolio company CME Solar, a leading company in rooftop solar investments, had extended support to schools in Hai Lang district, Quang Tri province: renovating classrooms, donating learning equipment, planting trees, and installing solar panels, among others.

It is a direct relief for schools hit hard by last year's historic flood, jointly operated by VOI and CME. The programme had the specific objectives of easing flood damage and securing and maintaining shelter for the people whilst protecting the environment.

During the COVID-19 outbreak in the Middle East and Oman in June 2020, through the Oman Embassy in Vietnam, VOI and its porfolio company Aikya Pharmaceutical Group gifted the Omani people 100,000 medical masks.

In Vietnam, VOI and Aikya have provided nearly 1.5 million medical masks to support frontline units to fight the pandemic since the beginning of 2020.

The Ambassador of Oman highly appreciated the efforts of the government of Vietnam in the fight against the pandemic, as well as the efforts of the Vietnamese people in the face of challenges, especially in natural disasters.

"We hope that the aid reliefs will help share some of the difficulties that families have suffered due to natural disasters, and hope that the friendship and cooperation between the two countries will continue to grow," Ambassador Saleh Mohamed Ahmed Al Suqri said.

Nguyen Xuan Giao stated: “During this difficult time of natural disasters and COVID-19 pandemic, VOI is committed to supporting businesses to overcome this difficult period, we will continue our social responsibility efforts with various partners.”

VOI is a joint venture between the Oman Investment Authority (OIA) and the State Capital Investment Corporation of Vietnam (SCIC).

Since 2008, VOI has disbursed nearly $300 million in Vietnam mainly focusing on industries with competitive advantages and contributing to the long-term sustainable development of the Vietnam economy including infrastructure, electricity, water, education, health, high-tech agriculture, and renewable energy.
