Bayer Vietnam to improve patient care

During its annual global Pharma Media Day earlier this year, Bayer reaffirmed its commitment to driving medical breakthroughs to sustain long-term growth within its pharma strategy. The company has bolstered its innovation capabilities by focusing on core therapeutic areas such as cardiovascular and oncology, while expanding its reach through partnerships and enhancing its pipeline quality through rigorous portfolio pruning.

Bayer Vietnam is working with the Hanoi Stroke Association and the University of Oxford to improve stroke care and research

In late August, Bayer Vietnam partnered with Siemens Healthineers and the University Medical Centre in Ho Chi Minh City to host a scientific workshop focusing on the latest advancements in using MRIs with EOB contrast agents for diagnosing and treating conditions such as hepatocellular carcinoma.

The workshop aimed to facilitate knowledge exchange and consensus-building among hepatobiliary disease experts on the role of EOB-MRI within Vietnam’s healthcare landscape, with the ultimate goal of aligning practices with international guidelines for managing, diagnosing, and treating liver tumors on a regional and global scale.

The previous month, Bayer Vietnam forged a partnership with the Hanoi Stroke Association and the University of Oxford to elevate stroke management and enhance the quality of scientific research.

The collaboration aims to amplify research and data analysis in atrial fibrillation and stroke treatment, unlocking the potential for healthcare innovation in combating these diseases. By bridging data disparities, this joint effort aims to enhance clinical decision-making and optimise patient care.

One notable outcome of the collaboration was a scientific study on anticoagulation patterns in stroke patients in developing countries, which involved data from over 94,000 patients across 66 hospitals in Vietnam from 2017 to 2023.

The study’s findings, published in the Journal of Cardiovascular Development and Disease, offer crucial insights into stroke and atrial fibrillation management, supporting the development of training programmes and elevating the quality of care for patients in Vietnam.

Additionally, Bayer Vietnam has been collaborating with associations and public partners to enhance the accessibility of healthcare solutions. Earlier this year, through the Vietnam Young Physicians’ Association, Bayer sponsored 500,000 boxes of multi-vitamin effervescent tablets for humanitarian medical examination and consultation activities across 49 cities and provinces nationwide.

This initiative is part of the broader Patient Support Programme, through which Bayer has distributed up to 2 million multivitamin boxes free of charge to vulnerable groups nationwide in collaboration with partner organisations conducting medical screenings and treatments, under the approval and guidance of the Ministry of Health.
