With its advanced technologies and experience cooperating with various governments and enterprises around the world, Autodesk will support the Ministry of Transport in the application of Building Information Modelling (BIM), thereby promoting the digital transformation and enhancing efficiency.
Autodesk to assist Ministry of Transport in accelerating digital transformation

On October 11, Minister of Transport Nguyen Van Thang met with Haresh Khoobchandani, vice president of Asia-Pacific and Japan Sales at Autodesk.

According to Minister Thang, digital transformation in the transportation and logistics sectors is among eight governmental priorities. The Ministry of Transport (MoT) recently brought the ministry’s activities to the digital environment, aiming for data-based management and administration in three primary areas, namely infrastructure, transportation, and road safety.

"The MoT is speeding up the digital transformation, applying new software and technologies into its activities," he shared.

The minister also said that the MoT is willing to welcome foreign investors that own highly applicable technologies to participate in all stages and processes of project implementation to ensure traffic safety.

At the meeting, Khoobchandani introduced BIM – a solution that Autodesk has provided to support various governments around the world when building infrastructure, such as the Bangalore International Airport project in India and a tunnel project in Norway.

There is some outstanding value that Autodesk’s solutions bring to the construction of transport infrastructure projects. In particular, Autodesk's integrated geographic information system (GIS) can build smarter cities by driving the integration of location and design intelligence, which helps to synthesise information more easily.

GIS can provide a complete picture of cities of all scales, so smarter decisions can be made about the operation and maintenance of existing projects, and future infrastructure can be simulated in the context of its location and environment. The system even predicts and prioritises future challenges such as climate change, population growth, and mass urbanisation.

Meanwhile, the Mobility Simulation feature of Autodesk InfraWorks provides real-world motion simulations and realistic visualisations, which facilitate data-driven analysis of end-to-end journeys when developing public transport. It also helps identify problems in advance when moving through public facilities such as airports, buildings, and stations.

Unified platforms like Autodesk Construction Cloud not only help store and manage projects securely in the cloud, they also manage large groups of remote collaborators, streamlining workflows, saving time, and handling increasingly complex projects more efficiently.

BIM also helps manage budgets and project progress effectively, taking advantage of data to make decisions while providing an overview of the project's progress. Even investors or the public can be granted access to the application, increasing trust towards the government when implementing publicly funded projects.

"It was an honour to be able to discuss how Autodesk can play a part in Vietnam’s growth journey with minister Thang, from equipping public servants and students with digital skills to sharing our insights with government agencies on how they can best leverage data and BIM to create safer and more efficient infrastructure projects," Khoobchadani shared.

That is also one of the cooperation areas outlined in an MoU Autodesk signed with the Ministry of Construction in early September.

Vietnam is one of Autodesk’s core markets, with many partners using its solutions to design projects. Autodesk believes it can bring its experience, expertise, and best practices to help address the existing challenges within the industry, such as traffic safety, ensuring progress and improving efficiency.
