Autodesk will provide guidance and assistance to VC Group in their efforts to digitise design and construction consultancy, in alignment with government Decision No. 258/QĐ-TTg on the application of Building Information Modeling (BIM) in the construction sector issued in March 2023.

In the construction industry, digital transformation and technology adoption in design and construction consultancy are indispensable trends to improve labour efficiency, project quality, and project cost and timeline management.

According to Decision No. 258/QD-TTg, the application of BIM is compulsory for class-I and special-class works from 2023, and for works of class-II or higher from 2025. The plan applies to public investment projects, projects funded by non-public investment state capital, and public-private partnership (PPP) projects that have begun.

In particular, VNCC has also been assigned by the Ministry of Construction to develop a research project to build guidelines for the application of Vietnamese Standards - Information organisation and digitalisation about BIM for housing and civil works.

This collaboration entails Autodesk's support of VC Group over a three-year period. The partnership will focus on activities that showcase the value of BIM and its application to nine member companies of VC Group.

The scope of support extends beyond the provision of technology knowledge, with Autodesk providing updates on quality knowledge, sustainability, and competitive advantages for VC Group's staff through the use of its technologies and solutions. This assistance will enable the VC Group to advance towards professionalisation, enhance its position and competitiveness, and meet the growing demand in both domestic and foreign markets.

Le Minh Long, deputy director of the Science, Technology and Environmental Department under the Ministry of Construction said, “To enhance the development of the construction industry more quickly as well as achieve maximum efficiency, the Vietnamese government has assigned the Ministry of Construction to take the lead and give advice in terms of policies to ratify plans and the roadmap of BIM in construction."

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Than Hong Linh, chairman of VC Group said, “We take great pride in being one of the leading groups to implement initiatives that drive the growth of Vietnam's construction sector. The signing ceremony to establish the strategic partnership with Autodesk Corporation represents a significant milestone in the application of BIM technology in the construction industry."

"Presently, all companies of VC Group adopting BIM have recognised significant successes, especially VNCC, Nagecco, VIVASE, CONINCO, VCC, and CDC. VC Group is confident in its ability to swiftly meet the digital transformation roadmap and technology application requirements, solidifying its position as the leading construction consulting group in Vietnam,” he added.

The signing ceremony also serves as a platform to raise awareness among other businesses regarding the importance of digital transformation and technology applications in design and construction consultancy, as well as promote the growth of Vietnam's construction industry.
