ACE Technologies is interested in building an R&D centre in Vietnam |
Gwan-Young Koo, chairman of ACE Technologies - a wireless communications device business, shared the plan at a meeting with deputy minister of Information and Communications Pham Duc Long on November 15.
According to Gwan-Young Koo, along with the plan to develop the R&D centre, the company will also target to increase the recruiting of Vietnamese technical human resources and expand its operation in the long term.

Meanwhile, deputy minister Long expects the company to cooperate with Vietnamese parties to study and develop the areas of radio frequency (RF), 5G technology and workforce training in the telecommunication and ICT sectors.
ACE Technologies started operations in Vietnam in 2015 by investing in a $60-million factory in Dong Van II Industrial Park, the northern province of Ha Nam, to manufacture wireless antennas and RF filters for smartphones.
At the time, Gwan-Young Koo appreciated the important role of Vietnam.
“Our Vietnam operations will serve as the gateway to expanding our business in Asia all the way to the Middle East,” he said. “We’re making great progress in Vietnam and see ourselves playing a significant role in advancing the local antenna industry.”
Another Korean group building an R&D centre in Vietnam is Samsung. The $220 million centre is expected to be completed later this year and recruit up to 3,000 people.
