According to the jury, Pham Cong Danh, who is also ex-chairman of the Board of Members and general director of Thien Thanh Group, played a key role in directing other defendants to conduct illegal behaviours for an extended period of time, causing a total economic loss of over VND9 trillion ($396 million) for VNCB.

Ealier on January 24 last year, at the first instance hearing, the Ho Chi Minh City People’s High Court upheld the sentence of 30-year imprisonment to former VNCB chairman Pham Cong Danh for “deliberately violating state regulations on economic management causing severe consequences” and “violating lending regulations of credit institutions.”
