Addressing the ceremony, the PM highlighted the significance of the coal-fired power plant which was built by local constructors and uses modern, environmentally friendly technologies.

The successful project set a new hallmark as Vietnamese staff, technicians, and workers are able to build and run both hydro-electricity and thermo-electricity plants.

On behalf of the Government, PM Dung highly valued the endeavour of builders of the State oil and gas group PetroVietnam and the Viet Nam Machinery Erection Corporation (LILAMA) for successfully implementing the large-scale project.

He also tasked the PetroVietnam to prioritize domestic bidders in implementing the four remaining big power projects.

The plant has a total output capacity of 1200 MW. The first turbine was put into operation since December 31, 2014, the second turbine since May 12, 2015. So far, the plant has contributed over 3 billion kWh to the national grid. It was designed to supply around 7.2 billion kWh per year, contributing to meet regional demand in general and national electricity system in particular.

*The same day, PM Dung also visited components of Formosa-invested project and attended the inauguration ceremony of the first coal-fired turbine of the Formosa thermal power plant.
