The national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines (VNA) is scheduled to add 434 flights from April 26 to May 2, an increase of 22 percent from the normal schedule and up 5 percent compared to the same period last year.

VNA plans to conduct 391 extra flights on high demand domestic routes, up 35 percent to meet the surge in demand for air travel during the upcoming Liberation Day (April 30) and May Day national holidays.

Accordingly, flights to and from Da Nang will increase during the 2013 Da Nang International Fireworks Competition and include 87 additional flights on the Hanoi – Da Nang route, 75 on the Ho Chi Minh City – Da Nang route and 18 on the Hai Phong – Da Nang route.

The carrier will also operate additional flights on the routes from both Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to Phu Quoc, Da Lat, Pleiku, Nha Trang and Hai Phong.

During the occasion, 43 extra flights are also being added on some international routes from both Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to Bangkok, Singapore and Hong Kong (China), up 6 percent from the normal schedule.
